Even though I am a Michelle Wie fan, There is no doubt in my mind that she should have been disqualified, at the Samsung World Championship, after determing that the point that she took relief was closer to the hole. No matter how much… the rules don’t state no closer to hole, unless it’s really a small distance. Golf has some silly rules, but they are rules, and they should be abided by …
What peeves me, is that this asshole Michael Bamberger waited until after the final round on Sunday to bring it to rule officials.
“That didn’t occur to me. I was still in my reporter’s mode.
I wanted to talk to her first.” — Jack Ass
So In his defense he was in “reporter mode” ... I mean if he did not say he was in “reporters mode” I would think that he had other motives than integrity, but because he was in “reporters mode”, then it’s ok. What a ass…
What were his motives? Only he knows … If I had to factor in a guess I would have to say he is one of those naysayers and believes that she should not have turned pro… and waited till the end to see where she finished. The fact that she placed a respectable 4th … made him very upset … and voila …
I also have a beef with the method to determine if there was an infraction. It was done after the fact… Approximately where was the ball, approximately where did you drop the ball, and then use a string to determine the precise measurement, which concluded there was an infraction, by a disputed distance. I am sure both parties embellish what sounds better for their case. 3 inches vs 1 foot … so let’s call it 7 or 8 inches. Is it me, or does something seem terribly wrong with the methodology???
I am sure she will recover… hell Nike is already paying her handsomely …
NOW if I can could only break 90 consistently .. \*shrug\* ...
