redesigned - version 3 !

wow … on to version 3… although i loved my old site, i felt it was time for a change… take it for a whirl..

as i have always stated first in any design is that i am no designer... and i type like english is my 60th language... now that we got that out the way …

the same

i have upgraded and still use textpattern and with a mysql 5 back end. i am not using any plugins, but i did have to implement a hack to get tables for comments and a way to distinguish a comment made by me. i am still hosted on dreamhost … almost considered changing them as they had a horrible couple of months, but still very happy with them and the price. ported all the old content. that’s it

the difference

computer : brank spanking new mac with the death of my dell ... you heard right a MAC!!!

logo : it’s new … dunno why but i like it

*html: * switched from transitional to strict … and now the proud owner of a hack free css file.

*layout + color: * the last person to think i would get away from blue is me… but i did it.. i have also used more whitespace, which gives it a more professional feel.

imagery : as usual i have a hard time selecting THE IMAGE that represents this site, and int PAST i have used a random image generator to cop out. this time the image will represent the most recent photo i upload. it’s still kind of a cop out but not so. list pages have a randomly generated image.

navigation : this is also very simliar, but i have gotten rid of subcategories… this is more a limitation of textpattern, which uses categories as a different metaphor… i still use them behind the scenes as magical filters… personal renamed to thoughts

photo : i love to see great photos, and i take very few myself, but every now and again i get lucky… i am really happy with this section, that has both my photos and photos from friends.

font : i have seen some sites used lucida ... i was impressed, so i used it too !! i am still using pixels… bad bad bad daniel .. i explained why i use pixels when i did my last redesign.

content : it’s the same ole content, but hopefully i will post more… but there is one new technology article of something i was playing with… i must say that i impressed myself check out a low tech “high tech” glossary

the forgotten

color : still want to tweak link colors

*search box:* doh … what’s the matter with me !
done hopefully it doesn’t look too out of place at the top there… and with a little DOM magic it’s hidden when the page is loaded … works great even if you don’t have javascript enabled.

ie: this site was created in two days … i have no pc right now, but will take a look and cross my fingers.

Seems like you have good css chops. Why would you use tables. Otherwise pretty lovely site.

Hey Daniel,

Nice to see you’re still kickin’ Txp. Haven’t thought to drop by your site in a long while, but saw your post in the forum and Shazam! New site design. Looks great. Always liked your work. No plugins, even sweeter.

Thanks Destry … yeah definitely been M.I.A. and happy with TXP... must say that after I posted on the forum (maybe coincidence), there were a bunch of hits that look to be looking for vulnerabilities…

I’ll definitely try to be better about keeping this FRESH ... first tell why i use tables.
