I went to sites today that don’t seem to be able handle the load of being dugg ? Is it Wordpress or the hosting companies or some bad configuration?
I am considering wordpress for future projects, should I? I really like allot of the websites I see out there, built with wordpres, and I have seen some high traffic sites that are able to withstand, but do you need some serious fire power to handle the load?

| Wordpress itself can certainly handle the load. The first thing you should do is install the wp-cache plugin, which will go a long way to making your site faster. Second of course is the machine it is on. JohnChow.com for example get some 300k (no type) pageviews a month using wordpress. At that level he has a dedicated machine but of course you can work up to it. Oh, and TechCrunch is run on wordpress and they probably get close to 100k a day. |
